In the last century, medicine, monitoring, and technical developments in anesthesia, surgery, and postoperative intensive care have contributed positively to human life. Although these developments provide prolongation of the life span, the increase in functional capacity and quality of life in the postoperative period of the patients is as important as survival. Providing these criteria is the common goal of all employees in the medical field. In this book, we aimed to share our experience and knowledge in light of new developments in cardiovascular surgery and anesthesia management in both arterial and venous vascular system pathologies.
Today, the incidence of vascular pathologies has increased considerably due to prolonged survival, stress, environmental and patient-related reasons. Among vascular pathologies, especially in arterial pathologies, surgery, anesthesia, and postoperative intensive care of this patient group are high-risk due to current surgery and patient-related risks (bleeding, embolism, etc.). Due to the existing comorbidities of the patients, both surgical treatment and anesthesia management can be complex. We hope that our book, which we think will contribute to the existing literature in vascular surgery and anesthesia, will be a guidebook because it is a first in this field.
